HOT Urban Capital event

Last Thursday evening we attended a celebration for the  groundbreaking of  Urban Capital's Phase II and the occupation of their Central 1 condo (on Bank and McLeod) beginning this fall.

First we took a tour of the showroom to have a look at floor plans, building models, a model kitchen, bathroom and examples of Urban Capital's finishes.
We were impressed with Central 2's quality materials and the clean modern design of the living spaces :

then we moved outside for a ground breaking ceremony with Ottawa's mayor Jim Watson

Ottawa has lot's of beautiful condo loving peeps.
UC's Central 1 condo development, which incorporated the face of Ottawa's heritage building the Metropolitan Bible church, is seen in the background.

Afterwards we took the opportunity to ask Urban Capital founder David Wex (shown here with Maureen, UC's marketing and sales dynamo) a few Questions :

cky Q1 : What sets Urban Capital apart from other Ottawa developers ?
DW A : We pride ourselves in offering the best in affordable, modern condo designs built by Taggart Construction.. UC has many innovative design features such as sliding walls, that make a UC home more flexible depending on your lifestyle or how you use your rooms for personal or social situations.
cky Q2 : What do you find the differences are between the Ottawa and Toronto condo markets?
DW A : Toronto has more of a investors' market, Ottawa requests more conservative or classic finishes but other than that our approach to meeting the needs of Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto's markets is the same. Deliver a quality product and customer service to a sophisticated market.
cky Q3 :How are you finding dealing with Ottawa's city hall administration?
DW A : So far they have been very cooperative and helpful. Respecting and maintaining the heritage church face of the Central 1 building was a challenge but we made it work.

Later we moved under the outdoor tent for a party featuring a DJ, drinks and delicious appetizers catered by one of our favorite Ottawa food establishments the Whales Bone , which is also located across from the new UC Central 1 condo development

cky designers, Carrie and Karyn trying to stay cool, literally.

Lovely Marbek engineers, Selena Fraser and Paula Claudino

It was 40 degrees out that evening so we were very impressed with the number of people who came out for this HOT event.
